Your first five prompts
Five things to copy, paste, and try once your Recurly site is connected.
Copy these into your assistant once you have finished the quickstart. Replace
acme with your own alias, and the example email and numbers with real ones from your account.
Each one exercises something different, and together they cover most of what people actually ask.
1. Check the connection.
Which Recurly sites do I have connected through Retrixus?
You should get your alias back, along with whether it is a sandbox or a production site. If you get setup instructions instead, the site did not save — go back to step 3 of the quickstart.
2. Find one customer.
In acme, find the customer with the email address jane@example.com
Retrixus finds a customer by their exact email address or their account code — those are the two ways Recurly can look someone up. It cannot search by name, so if you only have a name, find the email address first. When one email address belongs to more than one account, it lists each of them rather than guessing which you meant.
3. Look at their subscriptions.
In acme, what subscriptions does that customer have, and what state is each one in?
"State" is Recurly's word for where a subscription is in its life: active, past due, cancelled, expired, paused. Ask your assistant to explain any state you do not recognise.
4. Look at an invoice.
In acme, show me invoice 1042 with its line items
Or, if you would rather start from the customer: "show me that customer's last three invoices".
5. Ask a real question.
In acme, what has jane@example.com paid us in total this year, and were any payments declined?
This is the one worth trying, because it is the sort of question that normally means opening two dashboards and doing arithmetic.
What to expect
It will say "in acme" back to you. If you have several sites connected, always name the one you mean. If you leave it out and it is ambiguous, you will be asked rather than guessed at.
It asks before it changes anything. Ask it to cancel a subscription or issue a refund and it shows you exactly what would happen, checks it against your refund rules, and only acts when you say yes. If the site is read-only, or your role or plan does not include changes, it tells you so.
Some questions are too big for a chat. "List every invoice from the last three years" is a report, not a conversation. Retrixus will say so rather than trying and timing out.
If something is wrong, say so in the conversation. Explaining what you expected instead is the fastest way to find out whether it misread the question or the data really does say that.
